ISAAC GRACIE TERRIFIED

‘Terrified’, along with igniting first listen ‘Last Words’, was a song that launched Ealing singer-songwriter Isaac Gracie from earnest, yet unknown, talent to prolific industry artist. This year, we’ve seen Gracie shred guitars in ‘The Death Of You & I’, lose himself in ‘Reverie’, share heartbreak anthem ‘All In My Mind’ and revisit his acoustic roots with ‘Silhouettes Of You’. Now it looks like he’s turning back to those first demos on Songs From My Bedroom EP to present them to fans in a fresh light. ‘Terrified’ was raw, nerves-exposed recording in which you could hear the space of Gracie’s bedroom, his voice echoing and each strum, pluck and brush of the guitar strings heard distinctly. The lo-fi nature of the song did nothing to hinder the pure emotion of this wonderful songwriting, although it’s understandable why the musician took ‘Terrified’ back into the studio. With a subtle reverb touch on his vocals, clarified strings, an apt heartbeat sample, majestic keys and driving drums that propel the charged chorus, this song has been transformed into an anthem more suiting to Isaac Gracie’s current catalogue. - HT
